In 2018, the Florida Legislature passed a budget that funds schools at pre-recession levels. They only gave Florida's children a meager $.47 (.01%) per student increase in base funding while requiring districts to spend large portions of their budget on increased security and mental health services. In 2019, they increased the Base Student Allocation $75 which was an improvement but we must do better in 2020. Governor DeSantis, the Senate and the House have all proposed an increase to current funding.
